STRAY CAT FILMS is an independent film company founded by filmmaker Rafi Pitts in 2017 as a home for the films he has produced and a base for those yet to come.
Created out of the necessity to continue making films across borders, the company brings together part of Pitts’ existing body of work while providing an independent base from which to develop and produce the films to come.
STRAY CAT FILMS is rooted in a simple belief: cinema should challenge perception without prescribing answers.
For us, cinema begins with a way of looking. Not with explanations, but with characters, gestures and contradictions that allow an audience to experience a world for itself.
Although born around the work of one filmmaker, STRAY CAT FILMS believes deeply in the collective nature of cinema. A film discovers its identity through the encounter between those who make it — actors, cinematographers, editors, producers and creative partners — each bringing a different way of seeing.
The company exists to protect the independence necessary for those encounters to take place, and to build relationships with partners who believe that creative freedom and collaboration are not opposing forces, but essential parts of the same process.
Its ambition is simple: to make films that remain uncompromising in their identity while travelling beyond the places from which they originate.
Cinema without borders — films that transcend geography, language and expectation.
